God is SO Good

First, it is literally hotter than a hot tamale cookin' in a volcano out here! WHEW. Just thought I'd give ya an update on the weather. Haha :) Anyway...

Monday fun-day!!! We spent the day in DC! We went to the national American history museum and saw the original star spangled flag which was SO COOL. I love America!! We also saw Dorothy's slippers, the First Ladies dresses, which my BFF resident back at good ol Beehive Homes always wanted me to see! We got a hot dog from a hot dog cart (a must!!) and saw the national monument.

Had some fun taking pics there :) hahaha we took jumping pictures, and of course Sister Lang had the perfect high school musical jump. Then there was me. Mine weren't very flattering HAHA. SUPER FUN nonetheless. Now here's a funny story! We got way lost on the metro coming home from DC. I know now how Rach felt in London riding the tube!! Haha So we were riding along, just having a dandy time, thinking we know what we are doing after struggling to find what train to get on, when all of a sudden the metro stops at National Reagan Airport, then started going backwards ha! Sister Lang's face was like sheer panic, and I just started busting up laughing. It was hilarious. We were trying to get home because we had a dinner at 5, and it took almost 2 hours to get to DC. Anyway, we got off at the next stop, had to find the shuttle that could take us to Springfield and then drive home. It took us two hours to get back! Long story short, Heavenly Father had our backs the whole day. He blessed us with a kind man and his daughter to help us get to DC and then we ran into two other missionaries when riding home. We would've gone in the absolute wrong direction if we hadn't ran into them. BLESSINGS! It was so funny because over the intercom of the metro there was a person that was announcing something, I couldn't really tell what they were saying. Anyway they kept saying, ""We got metro plo-ece, metro plo-ece!" Haha "plo-ece?" Alright, we got the plo-ece up in here! Haha super funny. It was an awesome day! It was the fun day before we got heartbreaking news....

Tuesday: 9:00 pm. Hearts are beating fast. Waiting for the TRANSFER EMAIL..... Tick tock tick tock.... MY HEART BROKE. My beloved Sis Lang got booted outta here. She got transferred to Hay Market in Manasses. Ft Belvoir will never be the same!! There were lots of tears. Lots of tissues. Hahah. But I know Heavenly Father needs us in specific places, she will kill it out there in Hay Market! Sister Langford will be one of my BFFS forever. I love her to death. Other than that sad news, we also found my new companion!! Her name is Sister Livingston and she is from Montana!! She is so awesome. I love her! We have had so much fun already. She is a stellar missionary.

Earlier on Tuesday, we had an exchange with Caleigh Hales all day. It started out with getting our oil changed in our car. For two hours. Yeah terrible I know. But now our car doesn't have the "maintenance required" light on anymore! We also ate at Five Guys. Which, you know I never turn down a burger! haha But I felt so sick afterwards!! We then checked on some potentials and found two new investigators!! WOOP WOOP!! We had an awesome dinner with the Little family, then we went to part of the ice cream social relief society activity.
We saw grandma after that and had a blast with her, that woman is so funny. We read some BoM with her. Danced a lil bit. La cucaracha! Then we headed to the Torgersens to look at the transfer email. It was an awesome yet sad day. But Sis Lang and I were so pumped for our new companions! They are awesome missionaries. I was way nervous to lead out an area but all has been well! I love this area and I want to work my butt off. LETS GOOOO!! GO LOVE SERVE :)

Wednesday: we packed up all Sister Langs stuff all day. We ordered dominoes pizza and wore our African shirts. :') we had an awesome end of transfer zone meeting and district meeting. It was the last Zone meeting for the Springfield zone! They got rid of it. The departing missionaries bore testimonies and so forth. It was really good. I have loved this zone! They are the best. I have been so blessed to meet really good missionaries and people. Man, now I know what it means to truly love your mission! I just love it! SO MUCH. AND everyone in it. I'm so blessed to be here. The day was rough though.
Watching Sister Langford say goodbyes to people was really hard and having her tell me goodbye was terrible. The tears just started flowing! But change is good even though it's hard. Heavenly Father has really helped me lead out this area and grow in so many ways. Leading out Fort Belvoir was difficult and a little stressful at first. It was totally a new experience! But it's okay! Just like dad said over the phone at the airport before I came here, when I was so stressed and nervous and was doubting if I could do it, he said "it's not scary, it's just new. Just take it a day at a time." And that's what I did. And now I'm on my third transfer! I can't believe it. So that's what I did and will continue to do. "Just take it a day at a time." :) love you daddy.

Thursday was crazy! Transfers day. My heart broke in half, it wasn't easy seeing Sister Lang leave. It made me super sad. But I have an awesome new companion! She was my MTC companions trainer. She is super sweet and genuine. She has been out six months. Funny story: so we went to transfers, chatted with missionaries, switched all the stuff from one car to another and so forth, and we were on the way out. Well, I had asked Sister Lang for the phone, which she was about to give it to me but then there were a ton of distractions. Well long story short, Sister Livingston and I were halfway to our zone meeting when I realize we don't have our phone. HAA!!! I was freaking out. Haha it was a struggle, so our schedule was messed up a little bit for awhile, but we were able to get it eventually :) hahah Sister Lang and I just laughed forever. We were like: of course this would happen!! We were able to see a few less actives tonight and had a blast. We drove a ton. We also had our new zone meeting! WOOP!

Friday was a day of miracles. Man oh man. Well we planned for most the day. We had lunch will Brother Vance, our good ol pal. We went to Ihop! And he said the funniest things oh my lands. He was complaining because it was loud and I asked him what's a restaurant that's quiet, and he was like "well we could go to the morgue! Just push off the bodies and make room to eat!" HAHAA of course. Because that makes sense hahaha. Then I was saying how I was full and he was like "well you could be like the Romans" I was like huh? And he said "the Romans would go out back where they had some troughs and they would regurgitate their food and then go back inside and eat more" HAHAHA OKAAYYYY I was dying. Who doesn't love Brother Vance? :) We also were able to contact Florence and then Fatima, two women we've been trying to meet with for SO LONG, and we finally caught 'em! It was all Heavenly Father too. It was miracle after miracle. Sister Armstrong was able to come to the French family lesson where they talked about prophets and the bible. It was a little bit of a heated discussion at first, and Sister Armstrong is so sweet I felt so bad because I couldn't say anything in French! But the lesson ended in love :) it was awesome. Then we had a great lesson with Agartha's kids!! We read the children's Book of Mormon stories. It was an amazing day. I love missionary work. I love my sweet, patient, loving, and supportive companion!! She is the best ever. I learn so much from her. I love serving here in Fort Belvoir. It's an amazing place with amazing people. It will forever be home to me.

Saturday was AMAZING! Cool story: so Friday a lady called us. Her name is Margo. Apparently she met the sisters in this area 7 months ago but was so busy and lost contact with them. She kept the information card and she finally had the chance to call, 7 months later. She called because she had questions about things she was learning in a bible study. She had disagreements about what the man was teaching and she just really genuinely wanted to know what the answers were, so she called us! This whole time, my mouth just dropped and I'm just like, no one ever calls us, asks us all these questions and sets up a time to meet! WE ARE SO GRATEFUL! We were able to have a lesson with her today and it was amazing. We went through her questions and tried our best to answer them. It was so cool because the spirit was so strong and you could definitely tell that she was only getting her questions answered because the spirit was there, touching her heart and helping her understand. We have an appointment set to go back next Saturday! WOOP WOOP! We are so pumped!!! Heavenly Father is so good! We also had an awesome lesson with Ruby and talked about what a blessing it is to know we can see our loved ones again. The Plan of Salvation is awesome. Brian Emmons took us out to frozen yogurt with Sister Herron, it was super fun! We had a great day. P.S. I also ran over a concrete median when pulling a u turn in an intersection. Second time of doing that. So embarrassing. It's like, who puts a random piece of concrete in the space where your turning?! So weird. I loved the day though!! AGH!!! MIRACLES UPON MIRACLES. P.S. the members in this Ward are so amazing. I love them!!

Sunday was so good. Man. God is so good. Had an amazing time at church with the awesome members! Sister Livingston enjoyed her first Sunday! P.S. There are 4 new missionaries in Fort Belvoir. That's like a ton! And I'm the one that's been here the longest. So crazy! I love this place. So much!!! AGH, I'm so blessed to be here. Kayla came to church today! It was so awesome. She always is so involved and participates in all the classes. I learn so much from her. Zi was like, "HEY BEST FREN!" Haha love her. We saw Gramma after lunch. Lemme tell ya, that lady is a crack up! She sure knows how to make ya laugh. I put on her head scarf and she was like, "You tie it on better than me!" She is everyone's "African gramma." Gotta love her :) We then had dinner with the sweet Munson family. We had a short lesson with Kayla on the Ten Commandments! And had a little lesson reading the Book of Mormon with Ben, Ayoko's son. Then we went and saw sweet Miryiam!! Love her to death!! We talked about the prophet and read the Book of Mormon. We testified and the spirit was really strong. Man I just love the gospel! And missionary work. I LOVE IT. SISTER LIVINGSTON is an awesome missionary too. I'm so blessed to have her as my companion. She teaches me so much, I'm so grateful for her and the chance we have to serve here in the Fort together!

This week was a roller coaster ride of emotions, to say the least. But I'm just so happy to be here. I hope you all are having a wonderful week and summer. If your ever feelin' down, just remember the words of our wise African Gramma, "I'm old, I'm uglay." HA!! And that God loves you. With an infinite love. We're sons and daughters of God. How cool is that? I invite you to share that simple truth with someone this week. You never know the impact your testimony could have on someone. It could change their whole life around.

LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! More than words can say. I am so grateful for each of you. My heart is so full. Cheers to a new transfer!! HUZZ-AH!! (Rach will get it haha)

XOXOXO,

Sista "Heyman", (as Gramma would say.)

P.S. Sister Langford requested that I tell you, mom and dad, this:
"Tell Troy and Mindi how much I love them!!"
There ya go :) Sister Lang everybody.
