BA DUH DA DA DAA, I'm LOVIN' it! 🎶

Roses are red,Violets are blue,I'm slowly melting away because of the 102 degree weather + 1100% humidity,How are you? :)

THIS WEEK WAS SOO GOOD!! It was SO hot. And so humid! But SO good nonetheless. :) Virginia is so beautiful I love it here. Seriously contemplating whether to move out here some time in my life. We will see. :)

We found 3 new investigators on Monday!! Three!! I couldn't even believe it. They were referrals from the church! We are so humbled, grateful and happy! Seriously miracles are happening left and right. Heavenly Father is leading us in everything we do out here. He is there always!! I'm so so grateful to be the Lord's missionary. I'm so excited to be working with these three new investigators! One is named Matthew, and the other two are a mom and daughter, Christine and Karen. Unfortunately, we had to pass Christine to the elders because we apparently aren't allowed to go to the area she lives in. Oops. Haha. But the gospel is so awesome!! I love it.

Here are some funny things that happened on Tuesday: I GOT IMPALED BY A STICK when we were walking along the sidewalk. It killed!! It seriously stabbed straight into the side of my foot. I also made a fool of myself walking out of our apartment. I saw a super cute dog with his head out the window in the back seat. I barked at him trying to get him to bark back. Well as I kept walking to our car I realized that there was a man in the front seat of the dog's car. So that was super embarrassing. He was probably thinking... WHATTA WEIRDOO! Hahaha. We went tracting and met a ton of kind people!! Prayed with this super sweet lady. Sister Livingston accidentally handed a Spanish pass along card to an English woman. Oops! Ha A lot of good things happened. However we got hit on by two mid 20 year old men. It was slightly terrifying but hilarious. They were walking toward us and I said "Hello!" and they start walking towards us and one tilts down his head to look over his sunglasses and says in a super deep creepy voice, "hey." HAHA EW. it was kind of super funny. We just turned around and walked super fast. No worries Ma, we lost em. ;) haha they seemed like they were just messin with us. BUT Miracles that happened:

We were finally able to contact with Vivian again on Tuesday evening. COMPLETE MIRACLE sent from heaven!! We were able to see her friend Drea too! We retaught the restoration and invited her to set another baptismal date.... which she set for SEPTEMBER 10th EVERBODAYY!!! WOOP WOOP!!! We are so excited!! She wants to be baptized so bad. She just needs to quit smoking. We are so pumped for her. We also invited Drea to be baptized and she said she would think about it. Once she figures out what church to join and so forth. She is so sweet, we love them both so much! We also had an awesome dinner with Sister Sutton and her family. Sis Sutton is the sweetest human and takes such good care of us. We also saw Barb and had a quick lesson with her. I just love this place so much. God continues to bless us with so many miracles I can't even count how many. He is so good.

Wednesday was such a solid day. We started the day out by getting our apartment inspected by the sweet Torgersens. We passed ;) We then went and helped one of the new members in our ward build shelves for her house. Sis Liv and I busted them out in record timing. It reminded me of when Rach built that tv stand for someone on her mish! Twinners :) We had lunch at Subway and then had a lesson with Barbara and Sister Liechty came! AH I just love her. She is the best!!!
After we had a lesson with Athina. She is so good! She always says "oh cutie mo!! Sister Hymas, how are you cutie? I love you so much, how is the Mormon church doing? You want to have Mormon bible study today? You want me to pray? Okay I pray!!" Hahah I. LOVE. HERRR!! She is by far the most Christlike personI have ever met. She is a very special lady. After we went and checked on some potentials. While doing so, we met these kind men who were moving into an apartment. The one moving in is from Ghana and we have a return appointment to go back!! His name is Martin. Anyway, the other guy who was helping him move in was talking up the Latter Day Saints and was telling the guy that he should meet with us earlier so we can help him get involved with the church. We were like: SWEEEETTTT!! Miracles!! Funny story, I was setting up a time to come back and see Martin and he was like I will just give you a call, and I was like "well, we can come Sunday night if that works and you can give us a call if something else works better" or something like that. And the other guy was like, "She's like Donald Trump. Really good sales tactics!" HAHAHA. - thank you kind man from Richmond Virginia. Don't know his name. It was super funny! He also told us we have such royal names. He was a crack up. We had a pass off lesson with the colonial sisters with a man named Zac who is a less active. It was a super deep lesson and most of it went over my head because my brain couldn't think as deep as he was thinking! It was crazy. All I knew and wanted to say was that God loved Him. That's all that matters!!! Haha jk. But really. We had correlation and had an awesome day.

Thursday: best day. Sis Liv and I matched. Haha it was great!! Although there were a ton of people that were criticizing us because of it. ha. Welp, that's the last time I'm ever matching with my companion! Haha jk it was super fun :) We went and saw sweet Michelle and watched the video Refiners Fire. Man, I can't even imagine what it would be like to go through those trials that the woman went through. It makes me think of Christ and what He went through. The more I learn about Him and His Atonement, the more my love and gratitude for Him grows. My desire to become more like Him grows. And my desire to apply the atonement in my life daily grows. I am so grateful for my Savior who suffered for me individually. He and the Father are the ultimate examples of love. We had lunch and then helped a member with her home! We cleaned her bathrooms and living room and brought her a few things from the store. It was a super fun time :) I love cleaning for other people. Haha don't worry Ma, I clean our apartment too! Then we were able to meet with Kayla for a few minutes and talk about the Ten Commandments again. We emphasized keeping the sabbath day holy and why God has asked us to keep Sunday holy. She has to move and we are hoping she stays in the Ward boundaries!! Because she still wants to be baptized but if she's moving.. We will have to pass her. :( We saw our good ol' pal Ashley and also had a lesson with Ayoko! They are the SWEETEST people. They are so kind and always pray at the end of our lessons and ask for our safety and wellbeing, that we will be blessedas we go and share God's word with others. It is so cool to be able to teach and have their son translate and feel the spirit and talk about the gospel and testify...!! I LOVE IT. I love them! They are so good. I really hope and pray they accept the gospel. I want them to get sealed so bad!! AG. Patience is a virtue, haha.

Friday, you know what we did ;) plan plan plan! I wasn't feeling too well, I had the chills then I was hot later, then I felt like throwing up... etc etc. I feel better now :) But anyways, when Sis Liv prayed it was so funny she was like, "Please help Sister Hymas not feel hot... or cold....or anything.. Just a normal temperature..." Haha I was cracking up. She is too funny. Love her! We also helped a member unpack some things in her new home! We had dinner with the Hales and ate super good cookies. They were peanut butter cookies with Nutella on them. SO GOOD. BEST idea anyone's ever had. In the evening we headed down to Alexandria and saw Agartha and her kids! We watched the restoration video and ate popcorn :) it was a blast. THEN we went to go check on a referral and he didn't answer, but we went and checked on a potential named Shirley. She is like almost 79 and loves God! She was so cute, we talked a little bit about the plan of salvation because she has lost her daughter. She enjoyed our visit and we're going to stop by next Thursday! We hope we catch her, she's a nice one :) all I can say is that I love this place! I love my comp. I love the people. I love my Savior. I love my Father in heaven. I love the Gospel! It's true!!

Saturday was a day full of straight miracles. We went and made cake and pulled weeds with Jackie! We taught our referral Matthew Bidgood and his kids about the restoration. He is a very kind man who never grew up in religion. He says he has a clean slate and we were like that's totally okay!! Haha, the spirit was so strong when we recited Joseph Smith's First Vision. We invited them to be baptized and BOOM they said yes!! As they come to know if it's true. And the cool thing is they all said yes at the same time, and sounded excited about it too! AMAZINGGG!! They are so awesome! We are so blessed to have met them. We also had our lesson with Margo about the restoration and she was so intrigued the whole time, which we invited her to be baptized too and she said yes when she comes to know if it's true!! MIRACLEEE!! We were able to meet so many cool potentials, who we had to pass to the elders but it was still super cool. We also had dinner with the Parsons!! LOVE em. It was super cool because Sis Parson is a nurse and I had mentioned I wanted to be a nurse and they asked what kind. I told them a neonatal nurse and apparently both Sister Parsons and her daughter were thinking the same thing!! Sis Parsons says I look like a neonatal nurse. I was just like "woah, answers to prayers!" Maybe that's what I gotta do :) Also, we were eating and talking when all of a sudden Sis Liv's face starts bleeding hahah in the middle of her talking about something spiritual it was so funny. haha I felt bad but she's awesome. Also, we met so many dudes throughout the day, and they all were not wearing shirts. Probably because it was a gazillion degrees outside haha. For real it was 102! CRAZY. Sister Livingston was like, "everyone keeps popping out of the forest, and none of them are wearing shirts!"HAHA.

Then it was Sunday :) I love SUNDAYS. The sabbath day is seriously the best. My all time fave. Church was great! As always. :) We literally went all over the place Sunday!! Saw Gramma, ate lunch at the Hales, had dinner at the Curtis home, met SO MANY PEOPLE, we had a really nice visit with a lady named Rayna.  She offered to get us more water and we sat and talked with her for a bit. She has been going though a lot, and we talked about Christ and how we can always turn to him. Always. We showed pictures of you guys to her, she wanted to see our families! Anyway, she said we could stop by whenever we are in the area! I love her so much already, she is such a wonderful woman.

Sunday, I was thinking a lot about the atonement, specifically about how Jesus Christ literally felt everything we have felt. EVERY. THING. Every physical pain, mental, emotional, guilt, sadness, joy, love.... etc. It blows my mind. It's so interesting and amazing to me that as we study and learn more about Christ, new things always come up that you hadn't really thought about. There is ALWAYS something new you can learn about Christ. We can always be learning more about Him. When we learn more of Him we will desire to become like Him. We will have a greater desire to follow Him and help others draw closer to Him. He is our Savior and Redeemer and He lives. He is the source of my joy! He is the greatest joy I've ever known. I love Him and I know He loves us. I thought I knew Christ before I came out, but I have come to know Him far better than before. I invite us all to learn more about Him. Study his life and strive to be like Him. If we do this, we will come to know Him so much better. We will become more like Him. And when He comes again we will see Him as he truly is, because we will be like Him. I bear testimony that He lives. That His Gospel is true, and that there are always second chances because of Him.

LOVE,

Sister Hymas :)

P.s. It's crazy there's only one week left in July! Time FLIESSS. Love you all so much!

God is SO Good

First, it is literally hotter than a hot tamale cookin' in a volcano out here! WHEW. Just thought I'd give ya an update on the weather. Haha :) Anyway...

Monday fun-day!!! We spent the day in DC! We went to the national American history museum and saw the original star spangled flag which was SO COOL. I love America!! We also saw Dorothy's slippers, the First Ladies dresses, which my BFF resident back at good ol Beehive Homes always wanted me to see! We got a hot dog from a hot dog cart (a must!!) and saw the national monument.

Had some fun taking pics there :) hahaha we took jumping pictures, and of course Sister Lang had the perfect high school musical jump. Then there was me. Mine weren't very flattering HAHA. SUPER FUN nonetheless. Now here's a funny story! We got way lost on the metro coming home from DC. I know now how Rach felt in London riding the tube!! Haha So we were riding along, just having a dandy time, thinking we know what we are doing after struggling to find what train to get on, when all of a sudden the metro stops at National Reagan Airport, then started going backwards ha! Sister Lang's face was like sheer panic, and I just started busting up laughing. It was hilarious. We were trying to get home because we had a dinner at 5, and it took almost 2 hours to get to DC. Anyway, we got off at the next stop, had to find the shuttle that could take us to Springfield and then drive home. It took us two hours to get back! Long story short, Heavenly Father had our backs the whole day. He blessed us with a kind man and his daughter to help us get to DC and then we ran into two other missionaries when riding home. We would've gone in the absolute wrong direction if we hadn't ran into them. BLESSINGS! It was so funny because over the intercom of the metro there was a person that was announcing something, I couldn't really tell what they were saying. Anyway they kept saying, ""We got metro plo-ece, metro plo-ece!" Haha "plo-ece?" Alright, we got the plo-ece up in here! Haha super funny. It was an awesome day! It was the fun day before we got heartbreaking news....

Tuesday: 9:00 pm. Hearts are beating fast. Waiting for the TRANSFER EMAIL..... Tick tock tick tock.... MY HEART BROKE. My beloved Sis Lang got booted outta here. She got transferred to Hay Market in Manasses. Ft Belvoir will never be the same!! There were lots of tears. Lots of tissues. Hahah. But I know Heavenly Father needs us in specific places, she will kill it out there in Hay Market! Sister Langford will be one of my BFFS forever. I love her to death. Other than that sad news, we also found my new companion!! Her name is Sister Livingston and she is from Montana!! She is so awesome. I love her! We have had so much fun already. She is a stellar missionary.

Earlier on Tuesday, we had an exchange with Caleigh Hales all day. It started out with getting our oil changed in our car. For two hours. Yeah terrible I know. But now our car doesn't have the "maintenance required" light on anymore! We also ate at Five Guys. Which, you know I never turn down a burger! haha But I felt so sick afterwards!! We then checked on some potentials and found two new investigators!! WOOP WOOP!! We had an awesome dinner with the Little family, then we went to part of the ice cream social relief society activity.
We saw grandma after that and had a blast with her, that woman is so funny. We read some BoM with her. Danced a lil bit. La cucaracha! Then we headed to the Torgersens to look at the transfer email. It was an awesome yet sad day. But Sis Lang and I were so pumped for our new companions! They are awesome missionaries. I was way nervous to lead out an area but all has been well! I love this area and I want to work my butt off. LETS GOOOO!! GO LOVE SERVE :)

Wednesday: we packed up all Sister Langs stuff all day. We ordered dominoes pizza and wore our African shirts. :') we had an awesome end of transfer zone meeting and district meeting. It was the last Zone meeting for the Springfield zone! They got rid of it. The departing missionaries bore testimonies and so forth. It was really good. I have loved this zone! They are the best. I have been so blessed to meet really good missionaries and people. Man, now I know what it means to truly love your mission! I just love it! SO MUCH. AND everyone in it. I'm so blessed to be here. The day was rough though.
Watching Sister Langford say goodbyes to people was really hard and having her tell me goodbye was terrible. The tears just started flowing! But change is good even though it's hard. Heavenly Father has really helped me lead out this area and grow in so many ways. Leading out Fort Belvoir was difficult and a little stressful at first. It was totally a new experience! But it's okay! Just like dad said over the phone at the airport before I came here, when I was so stressed and nervous and was doubting if I could do it, he said "it's not scary, it's just new. Just take it a day at a time." And that's what I did. And now I'm on my third transfer! I can't believe it. So that's what I did and will continue to do. "Just take it a day at a time." :) love you daddy.

Thursday was crazy! Transfers day. My heart broke in half, it wasn't easy seeing Sister Lang leave. It made me super sad. But I have an awesome new companion! She was my MTC companions trainer. She is super sweet and genuine. She has been out six months. Funny story: so we went to transfers, chatted with missionaries, switched all the stuff from one car to another and so forth, and we were on the way out. Well, I had asked Sister Lang for the phone, which she was about to give it to me but then there were a ton of distractions. Well long story short, Sister Livingston and I were halfway to our zone meeting when I realize we don't have our phone. HAA!!! I was freaking out. Haha it was a struggle, so our schedule was messed up a little bit for awhile, but we were able to get it eventually :) hahah Sister Lang and I just laughed forever. We were like: of course this would happen!! We were able to see a few less actives tonight and had a blast. We drove a ton. We also had our new zone meeting! WOOP!

Friday was a day of miracles. Man oh man. Well we planned for most the day. We had lunch will Brother Vance, our good ol pal. We went to Ihop! And he said the funniest things oh my lands. He was complaining because it was loud and I asked him what's a restaurant that's quiet, and he was like "well we could go to the morgue! Just push off the bodies and make room to eat!" HAHAA of course. Because that makes sense hahaha. Then I was saying how I was full and he was like "well you could be like the Romans" I was like huh? And he said "the Romans would go out back where they had some troughs and they would regurgitate their food and then go back inside and eat more" HAHAHA OKAAYYYY I was dying. Who doesn't love Brother Vance? :) We also were able to contact Florence and then Fatima, two women we've been trying to meet with for SO LONG, and we finally caught 'em! It was all Heavenly Father too. It was miracle after miracle. Sister Armstrong was able to come to the French family lesson where they talked about prophets and the bible. It was a little bit of a heated discussion at first, and Sister Armstrong is so sweet I felt so bad because I couldn't say anything in French! But the lesson ended in love :) it was awesome. Then we had a great lesson with Agartha's kids!! We read the children's Book of Mormon stories. It was an amazing day. I love missionary work. I love my sweet, patient, loving, and supportive companion!! She is the best ever. I learn so much from her. I love serving here in Fort Belvoir. It's an amazing place with amazing people. It will forever be home to me.

Saturday was AMAZING! Cool story: so Friday a lady called us. Her name is Margo. Apparently she met the sisters in this area 7 months ago but was so busy and lost contact with them. She kept the information card and she finally had the chance to call, 7 months later. She called because she had questions about things she was learning in a bible study. She had disagreements about what the man was teaching and she just really genuinely wanted to know what the answers were, so she called us! This whole time, my mouth just dropped and I'm just like, no one ever calls us, asks us all these questions and sets up a time to meet! WE ARE SO GRATEFUL! We were able to have a lesson with her today and it was amazing. We went through her questions and tried our best to answer them. It was so cool because the spirit was so strong and you could definitely tell that she was only getting her questions answered because the spirit was there, touching her heart and helping her understand. We have an appointment set to go back next Saturday! WOOP WOOP! We are so pumped!!! Heavenly Father is so good! We also had an awesome lesson with Ruby and talked about what a blessing it is to know we can see our loved ones again. The Plan of Salvation is awesome. Brian Emmons took us out to frozen yogurt with Sister Herron, it was super fun! We had a great day. P.S. I also ran over a concrete median when pulling a u turn in an intersection. Second time of doing that. So embarrassing. It's like, who puts a random piece of concrete in the space where your turning?! So weird. I loved the day though!! AGH!!! MIRACLES UPON MIRACLES. P.S. the members in this Ward are so amazing. I love them!!

Sunday was so good. Man. God is so good. Had an amazing time at church with the awesome members! Sister Livingston enjoyed her first Sunday! P.S. There are 4 new missionaries in Fort Belvoir. That's like a ton! And I'm the one that's been here the longest. So crazy! I love this place. So much!!! AGH, I'm so blessed to be here. Kayla came to church today! It was so awesome. She always is so involved and participates in all the classes. I learn so much from her. Zi was like, "HEY BEST FREN!" Haha love her. We saw Gramma after lunch. Lemme tell ya, that lady is a crack up! She sure knows how to make ya laugh. I put on her head scarf and she was like, "You tie it on better than me!" She is everyone's "African gramma." Gotta love her :) We then had dinner with the sweet Munson family. We had a short lesson with Kayla on the Ten Commandments! And had a little lesson reading the Book of Mormon with Ben, Ayoko's son. Then we went and saw sweet Miryiam!! Love her to death!! We talked about the prophet and read the Book of Mormon. We testified and the spirit was really strong. Man I just love the gospel! And missionary work. I LOVE IT. SISTER LIVINGSTON is an awesome missionary too. I'm so blessed to have her as my companion. She teaches me so much, I'm so grateful for her and the chance we have to serve here in the Fort together!

This week was a roller coaster ride of emotions, to say the least. But I'm just so happy to be here. I hope you all are having a wonderful week and summer. If your ever feelin' down, just remember the words of our wise African Gramma, "I'm old, I'm uglay." HA!! And that God loves you. With an infinite love. We're sons and daughters of God. How cool is that? I invite you to share that simple truth with someone this week. You never know the impact your testimony could have on someone. It could change their whole life around.

LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!! More than words can say. I am so grateful for each of you. My heart is so full. Cheers to a new transfer!! HUZZ-AH!! (Rach will get it haha)

XOXOXO,

Sista "Heyman", (as Gramma would say.)

P.S. Sister Langford requested that I tell you, mom and dad, this:
"Tell Troy and Mindi how much I love them!!"
There ya go :) Sister Lang everybody.

"Miss Jenni From the Block!"

TRANSFERS ARE THIS WEEK. I cannot even think about it. Or I'll cry. Hahah. I hope you all are enjoying this beautiful summertime! My week was quite adventurous, if I do say so myself :)

Monday was a fun 4th! We were planning on going to Mt. Vernon, which is where George Washington lived, and it's like down the street from where we live! But we both were not feeling well at all. So we went grocery shopping, and then slept, and wrote emails, then headed to a dinner party with the Ward at the Maneys. It totally reminded me of our family parties. Then we went to an African beam party with Caleigh and Amber, and partied with the Africans in the stake! Hahah. It was great!! Later, we planned on the steps while watching a family do little fireworks in our parking lot. :)

Tuesday we ran into one of our Spanish friends who works at this apartment complex as a maintenance guy. He told us "You guys are angels." He always tells us to keepworking hard and that we have the best job: working for God. We had the opportunity to go to the visitors center with Chante!! Amber drove us there, and we met the Brewers there. On the ride up to the visitors center, Chante was talking about how much she loved the different principles in the gospel and church, and she was telling her husband about them. And she was like, "I know you don't want to be a Mormon, but do you think we could incorporate some of their principles into my life?" Hahahah She was cracking on the jokes and saying some pretty funny things. She also told her husband, "I hope we're not cousins, we gotta check our genealogy!" And then when we got to the temple, we walked in and met the sisters there. And Chante leans over to me and was like, "Sister Larsen looks like Jesus's daughter...doesn't she?" Oh my goodness hahaha. Chante is my favorite. You would love her! She had a wonderful experience at the temple visitors center. At the end she was talking to me and Sister Langford by the temple cut out, and she was saying how she never expected to come this far and learn all of this about the LDS faith just by doing a school project on it. We asked her if she had ever prayed about if it is true or not and she told us "not yet, because what if God answers and tells me it's true!!" Haha She said she will get to the point where she will pray about it. Just not right now. She knows it's true I can just feel it! It's so exciting, I just love her and her family. Okay, but On the way home, they were guessing our first names and she found mine out and she looked at me and said this, "I would've never thought you were a Sydney. I would say you look like a Jennifer, miss jenni from the block!! Who lives on a ranch and rides horses.... You are Jennifer Weatherington!" HAHAHA I was dying. I had never laughed so hard. When we got home, Amber was talking to us about the glow of missionaries and it made me want to cry. Sis. Lang also told me that I changed her mission, and how she is so grateful for me. Oh my, BAWLING oh my goodness. I do not want to leave her! Also, I just love the temple. I am so grateful for the knowledge we have of being with our families forever. I love the gospel. God is so good. He loves us. He wants us to be eternally happy. Not just happy now, but for forever. I know that we can be, because He has provided a way. Let us follow Him!

Wednesday we had a zone activity at the United Methodist church! We helped make sandwiches for the homeless. We made like 3,985 sandwiches or something! Then they go and hand them out. That was super cool to be a part of, I met some very kind people.
We went and saw Agartha as well and had cupcakes with Noel, her son, it was his birthday. We had lunch with Michelle and had an awesome lesson with her. We watched the new Mormon message video, "Like a broken vessel." which BTDubs you should go watch that if you haven't seen it. It will make you bawl! Bring tissues ;) Michelle is so sweet, I love her. She struggles with a few things, but she has such strong faith and endures patiently through it all. Such an amazing example to me! We had a lesson with our good ol' friend Barbara and Sister Christensen was able to come with us with her little boy, Roman. He's like 18 months old, and the cutest little boy I've ever seen in my life. I just love kids! They make me so happy. We talked to Barb about coming to church, as well as the purpose and importance if it. We hope she comes this Sunday!! We had dinner with the Torgersens! My favorite people ever! LOVE THEM. We went to go check on Vivian, and while doing so we met two people. One being Rita, who is 81 and the sweetest lady ever. She was sitting out in her lawn chair just enjoying the evening. She is Catholic and didn't seem interested in learning more, but she was super kind and we had a conversation about Jesus Christ with her. We watched the He Lives video too and she really enjoyed that. Then we met Samantha, who is a young lady who is super sweet! We have plans to go back on Saturday to teach her. People out here are so nice! It was also SUPER humid. Like holy wet batman. But it was a beautiful night! We drove down a road and there were like a bazillion fireflies. I felt like I was in a magical land. Haha.

Thursday we had a quick lesson with Kayla and then saw Miryiam in the evening. We talked with Miriam about her life, and hearing her story was touching. She has been through a lot and is so strong. There are amazing people in the world! Wow. My eyes have just been opened so much while being out here.  It was crazy though, we were driving down in the Alexandria part of our area, and there was some crazy stuff going down! We drove by a gas station with a million cop cars, we saw a ton drive down the streets coming from all directions I wonder what happened there! A few minutes later, we turned a street, and found another group of cop cars taking care of business, and a minute later we were driving down another road when we found some more cops. Haha I was like, "maybe they're just having cop school or something." Ya never know! Haha jk. But it was crazy! That area can be a little sketchy. But it's usually totally okay! Anyway, I felt like I was on that Bad Boys cop show. "Bad boys bad boys, whatchu gonna do, whatchu gonna do when they come for you..." Haha It reminded me of that. We also had a frightening experience with a lady asking us for help right in front of Walmart. She wanted a ride somewhere and we told her we couldn't drive her anywhere because we're missionaries, and she just went off on us. It was kind of terrifying. But all is well :) so much happens in one day. It's crazy!!

Friday. We planned. We partied. We ate a whole watermelon. We had an awesome visit with Sister Rivera and her fam. We took crazy cool pictures. ;) We stopped by and saw Agartha. Watched the video about Jesus walking on water. We came home. Planned some more. The end. :) it was a great day!!! Funny story. We were parked at a stop light and I was just deep in thought. All of a sudden I say, "life is crazy" and at the very same moment sister Langford says this while pointing at the corner of the intersection, "There was a murder over there one time." HAHAH? So random, and I later found out that she was making up all these stories on the way home and I believed them all. Apparently I'm gullible? Ha jk I really am. "Bye, I love you" said Ayoko. What!! She has never said that. It made our day :) Ayoko is a woman we've been trying to teach and her family for forever!! It was a complete blessing we got to teach her last week. We're seeing her tonight.

Saturday was so great! We went and helped Jackie with her wondrous yard and she gave us a tour of her huge old colonial mansion house. I want to live there so BAD. It's so beautiful, mom you would totally love it. We chit chatted over brownies and crackers and cheese and had a grand ol' time ;) Later our STLs brought us Chick Fil A. YESS. SO GOOD. Much needed. We then went finding and checked on potentials the rest of the day. Stopped and had subway for dinner. We were able to catch Wilbur too! He is an old elderly fellow, who feels like my other grandpa to me and I just met him a few weeks ago. We are going back to teach him and his daughter on Monday. He is such a good man with a good heart. I love how quick you can love someone and feel how much God loves them. We met a fellow in the evening, who was not interested at all in learning about the gospel, he was an atheist. He kept questioning how we knew the bible was the word of God or how we knew Jesus Christ did come to earth. Well despite his questioning and doubts, I know God loves him. And I do know that Christ came to the earth. How? Reading the scriptures, praying, going to church, sincerely wanting to know... AND by having faith. Even though I have never seen Jesus Christ in my life, I have felt his presence in my life. So often people want hard evidence as answers to their questions like if there's a God or not. However, God expects us to have faith in Him. If all our questions were answered by evidence, there would be no testing or trials, and we wouldn't ever have faith or allow it to grow. So just have a little faith. Faith will always overcome fear. Remember that, "acting on even a twig of faith, allows God to grow it." Amen and amen.

Sunday was just glorious. Sister Lang spoke, as well as Elder Severe, who is going home this transfer, and a youth from the Ward. They spoke on the Book of Mormon. They all killed it!! Sunday's are my favorite thing. I feel so happy and uplifted. It just feels like home. P.S. If I get transferred this next week I'm going to be so heartbroken! Pres. better leave me in for at least another transfer! Haha, these people are like family! Later that night, we had the NARMF, which Amber spoke at!! She KILLED IT. WOO!! She is just amazing. She needs to write a book on her conversion story. She'd be a millionaire like for real. Haha it was so fun to see all the missionaries and of course, the Huntsmans!! Love them to death. Every time I see them or hear them speak, I am just so inspired to be better and do better...! I love them so much. And the car ride home with Amber, Sister Horton, and Caleigh Hales was hilarious. We got lost taking these crazy, winding back roads in the dark. It was hilarious, so fun, relaxing, and kind of really scary but we made it home safe and sound :)

Today, we rode the metro into DC, which I'll talk more about next week, but we were on the way back and we were just sitting there. Surrounded by so many different people. They were all just doing there own thing. But there was a moment where I felt deep love overcome me. I know we are all God's children. It is so true. No matter who we are, or what we look like, He loves us. He knows us. It's an amazing thing to know, right? I love my mission so much. I am just embracing it all!! Time is going by so fast, I can't even believe it. I'm loving it out here. I just love the GOSPEL! And all of you! P.S. We find out about transfers tomorrow. AGH!!! I'll let y'all know what happens... Stay tuned for next week's adventure ;)

LOVE,

SISTER HYMAS :)

God Bless the USA 🇺🇸

Happy Fourth of July!!!! I love the fourth!! It is so fun, especially out here! There is so much history about our country. And it's such an honor to be serving in a Ward where everyone serves in the military. (Read below about Sunday) it was so powerful to sing the Star Spangled Banner with the Ward. Fort Belvoir is the best!! If I ended my mission here, I would bawl. It's like my home! I love it. This week was a blast! We did so many things. It's so sad the transfer is almost over. Sister Langford will probs get transferred. I'm gonna bawl! AGH I don't like to think about it. Changing the subject! Here's our awesome week! :)

Monday was sweet! We had a lesson with Barbara, Kayla, Merissa, and awesome FHE with the Suttons, and with the Parsons with Chante!! Chante is the most hilarious person. Kayla hasn't been smoking!!! MIRACLES!! She has been doing so well, she is so happy and I know God is so proud of her. Such a solid and happy day!!

Tuesday! HOLY SMOKES BATMAN! It was so awesome!! We had a killer district meeting about following up with people and then had lunch. We had a mini exchange with our STLs. I went with Sister Jones and we went tracting in the boonies! The greatest idea ever!! I love that place, I seriously want to live out there. I totally would haha. We met this lady named
Mona, and told her we loved her house! (Because it was oober CUTE. She was like oh yeah, come inside I'll show you the backyard!! She totally lives on a river and has like her own super nice boat in her backyard, along with her 3 story deck. My jaw dropped, it was just so beautiful! We talked with her a little bit and gave her a Book of Mormon and pamphlet. We invited her to church as well! We are hoping she is interested, we are going back to check up on her in three weeks because she's going on vacay. She was super nice. She also had a cute dog named Gus. So that was nice. :) haha, there are such wonderful people out here! Love em!! We had a lesson with Amber, and Jignasha but OKAY cool story time!! We went to go check on our good pal, Jonathan. It was awkward because we pulled up to his house right when he and his family got home and didn't want to bug them. We just weren't feeling like we should see him. We pulled off down the street to think about where we should go. We were planning to go to Jignashas, but in that distinct moment the words "GET OUT OF THE CAR" we're stated softly but clearly in my mind. I told Sister Langford I felt like we should pray about where we need to be before leaving to see Jignasha. So we did, I said the prayer. I sat for a quick moment after we said amen, and looked up. Turned my head, and the words "knock on that door" came CLEARLY to my mind. So that's what we did! Walked up to the door and saw a cute little knick knack with a cross and a bible scripture on it, sitting on the ground. We knocked and the cutest old lady came to the door. Her name is Janean! She lives by herself. She has 3 kids, one that has passed and a husband that's passed as well. We started talking and what we come and share as missionaries. She kindly invited us in and we had the most powerful, spirit filled Restoration lesson I've ever had out here on my mission. Especially when we talked about and recited the first vision. I have never seen someone be so interested and touched by it before. It was so incredible! I LOVE HER SO MUCH!! She is so stinkin cute. I am so GRATEFUL that the spirit gave me those promptings. I am so grateful that He led us to Janean. My heart was so full of joy the whole time, and I just knew that right there, in Janean's home, is exactly where we needed to be. Heavenly Father knew that and He guided us to her. I am forever grateful!! Never ignore those promptings!! Miracles truly do happen when we follow the spirit.

Wednesday! HUMP DAYY hah jk I love everyday whether it be ups or downs!! It's what makes missions the best :) we had another awesome lesson with a Michelle, a less active. She is so great! She was so nice, she fed us lunch! It was way good too, teriyaki chicken
and rice. People are so nice to feed us out here! We get fed so much BUT we sit in a car all day SO that's not good haha that's how ya gain weight right therr! But oh my goodness I got the Loveridges package and it made my whole stinkin day! My morning was going kinda rough and I was feeling a little down and homesick. But then we went and got the mail and found a package slip so we hurried and grabbed the package and opened it!.... And we had a grand ol time during lunch ;)THANK YOU LOVERIDGES!!! :) So much fun! I am forever grateful for that, it was such an answer to my prayer, tender mercy and miracle all in one. So so grateful :) We also went and checked on some potential investigators and had an awesome dinner with the Aguayos. We had correlation and took the most awkward pictures ever haha. I feel like pictures on your mission look so awkward! HAHA maybe it's just me. Random questions/comments of the day from Sister Langford: we were sitting on the couch when all of a sudden: "I don't want you to have any other companions." AW SAD!! Haha love her! And the other one, we were out knocking on a door and she was like: "How tall is your dad?" HAHA whaa? So funny! And random.

Thursday: TEMPLE TRIP P-day!!!! With our mother out here , Sister Liechty!! Oh dear, it was the most wonderful day ever. I love the temple! The DC temple is so BEAUTIFUL!!! Like wow. When you walk inside after they scan your recommend, there is this huge painting of Jesus Christ's Second Coming I believe. He is in the center with huge concourses of angels and then it shows all the righteous people turning towards him, and the wicked who are all lost and miserable. My jaw just drops every time I see it. The spirit just hits me right whenI walk in and see it. It makes me teary. It's beautiful! The whole time in the temple I just felt so peaceful. I am so grateful for the opportunity they give us to go in this mission. It was just what I needed. I loved it so much. I just want to live in the temple. haha If only, right!?

Plus, Sister Liechty is the bomb.com, I love her so much! She is like a motherly figure and BFF all combined into one. Haha She is so great. We stopped at McDonald's afterwards and also took some awesome pictures at the temple. We wrote emails then had a wonderful dinner at the Koughs home that night! It was such a great day! Best 3-month celebration ever! :)

We planned all day on Friday and made some new, sweet meal calendars. We talked with a real sweet guy with the cutest kids I've ever seen and also talked with some Jehovah's Witnesses. They were super nice! We had a real touching lesson with Vivian and met her friend Drea who just moved in with her. Drea and Vivian are both struggling with a lot right now. We watched the video, Mountains to Climb and talked about putting our faith and trust in God, believing He will work things out. Drea was so touched she was crying at the end. She is so sweet. They both said they are coming to church on Sunday!! Wahoo!! I love them both so much and I just met Drea. We also had a quick lesson with Agartha. I took care of Sister Langford throughout the day, she isn't feeling well. I'm perfecting my nursing skills ;) hahah

Saturday!!! Oh Saturday. We helped a new family in our ward move in! They are so cute and nice! They kept telling me and Sister Lang that we were so beautiful. It was so kind of them too because I was a sweaty Betty-hot mess. We went finding/street contacting/ checked up on people. We went to a place called Vinny's Pizzeria I think? I ate half of a pizza, yes I know. Fatty right. It was SO GOOD THOUGH! Haha I seriously have never eaten so much in my life, people just feed us! They feel bad if we don't have a dinner haha, I think my stomach has grown or something because I just have never eaten so much before. Anyways!! We met a lady named Angela, who's from England. Her accent reminded me of Rach and her mission days. It made me want to shed a tear of joy for her :') We also met a fellow named Mohammed, who is Muslim. He was very kind and wanted us to come back and share our message with him and his family. We are so excited!! :) I love missionary work. I love working hard and giving it my best each day. The greatest feeling is when you come home at night, tired but happy, because you know you gave it your all that day. That's the best feeling. I love that feeling.

Sunday was so sweet. We had a wonderful sacrament meeting. It is such a privilege and blessing to be serving in a Ward all made up of military members, we sang the star spangled banner at the end and all stood up. It was super powerful. The Spirit is so strong. I love church! And sacrament meeting, and Fast Sundays. I was really uplifted. Later we had dinner with the Hales family! Get this: we ate tacos, waffles, cereal, and chocolate crepes! Ya don't have that everyday! So good, right!? haha I love that family!! They feel like family. So blessed to know them! That night we had an awesome lesson with a family we've been trying to meet with for awhile. They speak French, but the 11 yr old son was able to translate back and forth. It was so amazing to experience that! Funny and embarrassing story moment: HAHA. So I had downloaded this video in French and Spanish. Well, I quickly just pull up the video, super excited to show it, and they are watching and everything is great. Well, this woman's sister walks into the room, and we're all like heyy! So we start the video over, 2nd time around. They seem to be enjoying it, when like halfway through, (keep in mind they speak French so I had no idea what they were saying) Ben, the boy who was translating was like, uhh they said its in Spanish... HA HA HAAA....SO SORRY!!! That's awkward... Ha!! We were all cracking up it was pretty funny. They were kind and understanding. So I pulled up the french video, and started playing it for the 3rd time! 3rd times a charm right? ;) Haha, It was much more obvious that they understood that video much, MUCH better! hahaha We showed them the He Lives video. It was really cool to see that even though we may not have been able to speak the same language, each of us was able to feel the spirit. We all can feel and understand the language of the Spirit. They want us to come back next Sunday! We are so excited. It was a complete miracle that they let us come and teach them. Heavenly Father is so good. The Gospel is so good. I love it.

P.S. Also found out Diane is moving!! On the 15th. WHAT THE. I was so sad to hear it. She isn't moving too far, so hopefully I get to serve in the Ward she moves to. She was like: "oh YES!! And then I can paint your nails!" She is getting her aesthetician license haha I love her! She is the happiest person. Gonna be sad to see her go. But all is well! All is well. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th!! I am so blessed to live in this country and to be blessed with the freedoms we have. This morning, president wanted us to study some patriotic scriptures. I read about the Title of Liberty. Alma 46:12-16. Moroni is a complete stud!! Seriously. Can't wait to meet him one day. I am so grateful to live in this beautiful country and to be serving here in DC. I am so grateful that we have religious freedom, to choose to worship God and His son Jesus Christ. I know that they live! I know one day, we will be reunited with them. Have a blessed Monday and week :) love you all so much!!!

LOVEEE,

SISTER HYMAS :)
