I was on fire this week.LITERALLY. HA! I was hotter than hot!! And dripping wet! Woo doggy! It is so hot and humid over here in sunny Virginia!! You step outside for two seconds and your dripping wet! But it's all good, because everyone gets real sweaty haha so your not the only one that stinks. ;) Plus, I have a sweet watch tan line and I never get that so I'm pretty happy about it ;) SOO it's funny because when p day comes around, I try to look back and remember what happened the past week and my mind just goes blank. Haha! So good thing I write things down! Or else there would be nothing to say in my weekly emails. But first Let me just say... I had some GOOOOOOD HOMEMADE FRIED CHICKEN this week and MA! you know how much I love fried chicken... ;) I'll talk more about it when I get to it. I just had to say it was super good. I want to go visit the south one day. But let's start on last Monday eh?
Last Monday we had a way nice p day: we did nothing! And it was just what we needed! Haha We went shopping for food, then went and hung out with the Torgersens for a little bit and then came home and wrote some emails then went off and sent them. It was wonderful! It was so nice to relax for a little bit. We had two lessons, one with Kayla and the other with Diane. Kayla is progressing really well. She is working so hard to quit smoking and she told us at that lesson that she hadn't smoked for 3 days and she was really trying to keep it up! We were both like: NO WAY. We were pumped! She is changing right before our eyes and she is just so happy. Diane is so happy too! We had a lesson in the Parsons home, a members home, about temples and family history. She is really excited to go to the temple and to do work for her ancestors! Especially for her dad. He passed several years ago. I want to learn more about family history so I can actually help people understand more about it, and because I'm really interested in it! I want to learn more about my ancestors.
Tuesday we had a pumped up district meeting and zone testimony meeting to start off our finding fest! Then we had exchanges with the cutest sister training leaders, I just love 'em! We had sweet frog (frozen yogurt place) that night while we planned. It also poured like no ones business! I need rain boots!
Wednesday we finished up exchanges, saw a few people and had correlation. We met some new people and had a really cool experience with a guy named Miguel. He started crying when we asked if we could teach his son, Jonathan, because he wasn't interested. He said we could come over anytime. We then said a prayer with him right there on his door step. Some of the coolest experiences are when people just open up to you and you can just tell the spirit is working on them. Precious moments.
Thursday was awesome!!! We had interviews with President. I love President! He is a good man. And so inspired. I'm so grateful that I have the opportunity to serve in this mission and have him as my mission president. We had Sister Lauren Colley from the Ward come out with us too, we had a busy night! We contacted a few people, saw Rita, our sweet Athina, and had an AMAZING dinner appointment with Chante! Our member refferal. She made THE best southern food I've ever had! She made homemade fried chicken, green beans, dinner rolls, and Mac and cheese. ANND brown sugar caramel cake. OH MY LANTA it was the best dinner I've had in my life! Haha It was SOO GOOD! My stomach wasn't super happy that night, but hey. It was worth it. :) We got to get to know her husband more too, they are the kindest, sweetest, most good hearted people you will ever meet. Being in their home makes me feel like I'm at home. Chante makes me laugh so hard I love her! She's one of those people that I'll be best friends with forever, no doubt. I'll definitely be coming back to Virginia and will be staying at her house! Haha, Love her!
Also, I got 2 aggressive driving errors and almost got in a car wreck. It was terrifying, but seriously it was a miracle that we didn't! Someone swerved into my lane, they didn't see me. And I swerved into the other lane (because the car almost hit me) where another car came up flying right behind us and barely missed us it was the scariest thing ever. The elders we were taking home definitely let out a "AGGHHGGHGHGGHHH!!" Scream. Hahaha. Heavenly Father literally has poured miracles upon us as I've been driving here. The drivers here are wild! Your eyes have got to be peeled at all times.
Friday we found a new investigator! Woop! His names Miguel. We get to see him on Monday, yay! We saw Agartha, and a woman named Michelle she has been through a ton and has such strong faith in Christ. She is in the Mt. Vernon Ward, but we have permission to visit her because there aren't any sisters in her Ward. We had a party planning too! Not really. Haha. Sometimes it's hard to be motivated to plan, but I prayed that we would be, and Heavenly Father totally helped me. Blessings! I just love my mission and my companion. I am having a blast out here. THIS IS LIVING! haha ;)
Saturday we helped stain Sister Armstrong's deck! There's nothing better than a little bit of service! :) Then we last minute helped a member move into our Ward. Then we went on a little exchange! Sis Lang went to the temple with one of her recent converts while I went with my MTC comp Sister Richardsen. We had a blast! We went to a lesson with her recent convert named Oscar. He is awesome. His closing prayer was my favorite, he said, "Thank you for this beautiful hot day. It's kind of steamy... But it's ok." Haha it made me giggle. Then we went street contacting! Such a fun day with my good ol sista! Then we came home and Sister Langford was not feeling too hot so she slept the rest of the evening. And I took care of her, like little miss nurse Sydney ;) haha it was a fun time. I think I'm going to do nursing. Who knows! I might change my mind. Again. Haha. Sunday was a blessed day!!
Sunday's = seriously, my fave. They are just so peaceful. Our Ward had a linger longer after church, so that was so fun!! The members here are amazing. They take such good care of us. We also went finding! In the blazing hot humidity. WOO! IT. WAS. HOT! ("Feelin hot hot hot" Michael Scott anybody...? Hahah jk) like I was wet, it was so humid. We had a lesson with our member who we thought was an investigator, Miriam, and her husband Edgar. We talked about the plan of salvation and baptism by the proper authority. We hope he starts reading the Book of Mormon, he says he will and he's going to pray about it...! We had an awesome FHE with our good ol' pals, the Riveras, the family we played restoration Jenga with. We read the introduction page of the Book of Mormon and then watched the Testaments movie and ate popcorn! So FUN RIGHT?! :) I love that movie, it was a blast. :) Later, we had an amazing lesson with our new investigator that got passed over to us, Vivian, and her two girls. We shared a short message, Mosiah 24:14, and how God is always there for us. If we turn to Him, He can lift the burdens from our shoulders and help us feel at peace. She is solid, we are working with her towards baptism!! :) She has no date yet, but we are getting there. :)
Heavenly Father is so good. There are a lot of highs and lows on missions. And in life. A lot of good things happen and some not so good things! But that's what makes it so fun. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity I have to serve here in Virginia. The weather may be blazing hot sometimes, you may sweat an ocean a day, the people may drive a little crazy too, you may or may not get 1000 bug bites or get caught in pretty intense random thunder rainstorms....
BUT... it's safe to say that I love this beautiful place. And I love LOVE love, these sweet people. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else at this time. Today I hit 3 months and it feels like I just got here yesterday! Time is so crazy on your mission. Live each day to the fullest. Whether you're on a mission or not, time just flies. Live and love everyday!! There's something wonderful in each day. Heavenly Father works miracles in our lives if we have the faith that He will.
Welp, here's to another wild week in Virginia! Actually, I'll talk to y'all on Monday. Haha in like 4 days! That's weird. I'll tell ya about my temple trip then! :) I LOVE YOU!!!
So much love and a bucket of fried chicken,
Sister Hymas :)

Oh, There Is Sunshine in My Soul :)
Monday we went on a little hike/ walk on a trail through some very pretty trees with our sister training leaders. It was super fun and relaxing! We stopped and got some slurpees at 7-11. We went grocery shopping, then came back and emailed. We had another meeting with Chante, then Diane! They both are just so amazing. Chante is so interested in learning about our faith and Diane is so ready to be baptized. Miracles are happening right in front of our eyes!!
Tuesday we were sitting on our couch eating lunch when Sis. Lang was just like, "Hey. Thanks for not going home!" Hahah I was like yep, no problem hahaha. It was so random. We had Zone training and a Relief Society activity, which Chante came to! Afterwards we had Diane's baptismal interview and when she got to the church, the first thing she yelled when she got out of the car is "Look how Mormon I look!?" She was wearing a cute modest skirt and shirt haha.
Wednesday we went to grandmas and helped her cook some food. She has to eat certain foods that won't make her sick. Her lunch consisted of potatoes, onions and two pinches of salt, all boiled together. She is the funniest lady and so different. She is so grandma! Hahaha We had district meeting and figured some things out for Diane's baptism. We had a little lesson with one of our investigators, Ben, and then went to dinner at Sister Jones house. She is the cutest person! And I LOVE where she lives. She lives out away from the city and it's just so peaceful and quiet. I wouldn't mind living out where she lives! Virginia is just beautiful. That evening, we went to check back on Jonathan. Do you remember me telling you about him? We met him towards the beginning of last transfer. He told us to come back after June 12th because he was taking care of his new baby they just had. So we did! He is so funny and the most genuine guy you'll ever meet. And we met his brother too. And guess what!! They invited us to have dinner with his family next Tuesday! We are so excited. We just love them and want them to learn more about the gospel so badly!
Thursday we taught a new investigator! Her name is Crystal. She is so sweet and genuine. She accepted the invitation to read the Book of Mormon and restoration pamphlet. We invited her to be baptized and said she would think about it. We love her so much already! Most all of our appointments fell through. We had an awesome dinner with the Hales again! Love that family so much. Before we went to check up on someone we were about to get out of the car when Sister Langford shoved an ice cube down my dress hahahah I don't know why she likes to do those things RIGHT before lessons but it makes it pretty fun :) I just love her. She is the best. Her love and zeal for sharing the gospel is incredible. She teaches me so much each day! We had a lesson with Diane too. She was kind of struggling with some concerns and fears she had due to her boyfriend bringing up things he had heard about the Mormons and so forth. So we talked through some things and helped her with that. Sis Lang shared the story of Jesus walking on water in Matthew 14. She shared how Peter had so much faith to walk out to meet Jesus on the water, but when he started to doubt once he saw the storm around him, Peter started to sink. However, when Peter cried out for the Lord to save him, Jesus immediately reached forth his hand and pulled Peter up. Hearing that story again really strengthened my own faith that when we stay focused on Christ, we aren't going to sink into the sorrows and despair of the world. We will be happy and have His spirit with us. When we fail to have faith in Christ and focus on the worldly things, we begin to sink. However, whenever we begin to sink, or whether we have faith or not, Jesus Christ is always there. Waiting to pull us up out of our misery. He is there to help us and love us. He is there for us. I've seen it in my own life. I know when we follow Christ, we have no need to fear. I know when we are struggling, we can cry out for Him and He will ALWAYS and IMMEDIATELY be there. He loves us, and He cares. He is waiting for us to turn towards Him if we haven't already. He is simply always there.
P.S. After Diane's lesson, there was a huge summer rainstorm and Sister Langford and I
Apparently they are soaking wet... |
Friday: Best lines of the day- "That stinks. That's a stink bomb."-Sis Langford. "Your a turkey kabob."- yours truly. :) haha We had an UHMAZIMG lesson with our dearest Kayla. We began by talking about repentance, what repentance is, why we need to repent, how we can't be saved in our sins, what our purpose on earth is. Kayla's daughter was there and her friend and they were being a little rowdy so Sis. Lang went and played with them while I talked with Kayla. We had a conversation that I won't ever forget. It was honestly life changing. My heart broke as I listened to her story and the things she's been through. As she was finishing, I was praying with my whole heart that Heavenly Father would help me to know how to help her and what to say. Because seriously, we are just a bunch of 19-23 yr olds going around trying to share the gospel with others and help them through their difficulties. I have no idea how to help people with their struggles! But I know God does. As I started talking to Kayla, thoughts came to my mind and words filled my mouth. The RIGHT words. The words that Kayla needed to hear. She said "oh wow, that is exactly how I feel. Oh and that too!" The spirit guided me to talk about how sometimes in life we ask the question of why God would let terrible things happen to us and to good people, trying to do the best we can. Why does He let us suffer through terrible things? The spirit full on directed my thought to the Savior and how God let him suffer in the Garden of Gethsamene. God, our Heavenly Father watched His own son suffer for ALL the pains of the world. All of the sins. He watched Him experience the most excruciating pain. Not because He wanted to, He had to. Heavenly Father doesn't want us to suffer. He wants us to be happy. But how else are we supposed to learn if we don't have struggles and trials. Just like He watched his own son suffer, He watches us in our struggles. But he does it because he loves us. He has already given us the best gift we could ever be given. The gift of His son Jesus Christ. He knows we can overcome our difficulties and suffering because Jesus Christ has already felt them. He's already overcome them. SO WE CAN TOO. We need to turn towards His son, and follow Him. The spirit was so strong in the lesson! And Kayla said something at the end of the lesson that just made my heart so happy! She said, "if Jesus could give His life for us, then I can stop smoking." A-MEN!!! WOO it was an Amazing lesson. I just love her!! She has the sincere desire to change and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to know her and teach her. She has taught me more than I could've ever thought of. Man. I just love these people. I just love my mission. After her lesson, it was dark outside and our car was like super far away and we were in a sketchier area. So Sis. Lang and I RAN FO' OUR LIVES to our car. It was scary not gonna lie. But Heavenly Father heard the 20 prayers that I was cryin, asking for safety, and helped us get home all safe and sound haha :) p.s. It is really good thing that I run in the mornings because I wouldn't have been able to make it to our car! Seriously! Haha Exercising in the morning as part of our missionary schedule was definitely an inspired thing. Haha.
Saturday was the most glorious day ever! Diane was baptized!! YAYY!! Oh my goodness I just wish you could've been there. I love Diane so much! Okay but funny story. So there were baptisms before ours and we had talked to the missionaries before, like three times about not unplugging the drain in the font. HAHA we got there and the font was empty. The font takes 2 hours to fill. HA HA HAAAA. SO good thing we were there an hour early. The font was only half full but that's okay because all went so well!! Diane's family came, her mom, her son and some friends, a lot of members came out to support her, Amber came! And our investigator Chante!! AGH IT WAS AWESOME! Me, Sis. Lang, a recent returned missionary, and a future missionary Miss Caleigh Hales, sang "I Stand All Amazed." Sis Lang played her uke! It was so fun! Apparently we sounded super good so that's awesome because I had cotton mouth again but good thing there were more singers. And then Diane got baptized! Oh my goodness it was like the happiest moment of my life it was such a grand day!! The best thing ever is when she came up out of the water and was just so full of joy. Diane is probably the happiest and sweetest human being you will ever meet. But when she came up out of the water, she was a different kind of happy. It was so amazing to see. And then the funniest thing! HA she turned around and was walking up the stairs and she was like, "Oh my goodness, my haaiir!" (she has like an Afro and she was telling us about how it looks when it's wet. Anyway inside joke haha) but then she immediately said, "YAY! WE DID IT!!" YESS, WE DID! It was like the happiest moment of my life! Wow it was the best day ever. Heavenly Father pours so many blessings upon us, He is so GOOD. it was the most glorious day. Such a happy day. My heart was so so full. That night we met an awesome new investigator named Maurice and we are looking forward to going back to teach him! We also did some service for our friend Jackie in the morning, we planted flowers and ate chicken salad it was wonderful :)
Sunday was so great. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all the amazing fathers everywhere, and especially to my dad. I love you dad and am "eternally" grateful for you. (We're stuck with each other for "eternity", eh eh get it?;) I love you dad!! :) SO MUCH! Diane was
confirmed and she was just the happiest human. I wish you guys could meet her, you would totally just love her! One day :) Kayla also came to church with her daughter Zion! Miracles!! We saw Athina, grandma, and had a lesson with Miriam which we found out yesterday she is a member HA HA Why does that always happen!? We had dinner with the Baileys, and they are so stinkin fun and cute. They remind me of dad's sisters and their families. Love them! It was an awesome Sunday. I love Sundays so much. They are so relaxing and rejuvenating. God truly made the Sabbath day for us. It's a day of rest. A day where we can go to church, partake of the sacrament and feel of His spirit. We can focus on Him and His son. Couldn't ask for anything better! Sundays are the best day there is. :)
Within the last week we have had like 7 of our solid Investigators drop us=Bummer. However... It's okay because Diane got baptized!!! We are so blessed to see miracle after miracle each day. Heavenly Father has truly guided us to find those who are prepared to receive the gospel. It's the most beautiful thing. I love you all! Go share the gospel with someone this week. It will bring you so much joy.
LOVE ALWAYS :)
Sister Hymas :)

"SISTER. OUR CAR IS GONE!"
Who got towed? We got towed! HAHA *TIP: look for towing signs when ya park places. It's not fun to walk out and find your car gone. It's pretty hilarious actually. HAHA
BUT....This week was so grand! Missions are so amazing. This is the best thing I've ever done. I'm so blessed to be out here. It's a miracle I'm out here! Heavenly Father is so so good. :)
Monday was A BLAST!! We got up, studies, went to our favorite grocery store, Aldis, everything is super cheap there it's wonderful! And our good ol' friend, Brother Billy Vance, wanted to meet us there so he could buy our groceries! Seriously he is so nice, he always buys us stuff haha and bring us food! It was so funny, we were getting milk, eggs and fruit and stuff and he looked at our cart and said, "where's the meat?! Don't y'all ever eat meat?" So he went and grabbed a pizza and threw it in the cart. Hahah He is my favorite.
Then!! We went with a group of sisters from around the mission and played sand volleyball!! And ate watermelon and had a grand ol' time! I saw Sista Frei! She is so cute I love her! She chopped her hair too it's adorable!! Then we came home and went to dinner and had two solid lessons with Diane and Kayla. And oh my it was so funny, Kayla's daughter, the 4 yr old, her name is Zion. Anyway we were talking about how we were going to go to the temple visitors center and she looked at us for a long moment thinking... and then she says "... And we got some fruit snacks because we went to the grocery store today!" Hahahah I LOVE HER! She also calls me "best friend" so yeah, we're BFFS. Heavenly Father is blessing us so much! It is so amazing to be a missionary! I'm so incredibly grateful to be here. I love it so much.
Tuesday we had breakfast with Sister Langford's trainer, before she went home. And then we had to do my 12 week training and things like that. We had dinner with the Robisons and they always make such good food. Like steak, chicken, mashed potatoes (my FAVE!) beans, and so much good stuff. Then Ashley Robison came out with us to Kayla's lesson. The elders came by as well to give Kayla a priesthood blessing. She is really wanting to stop smoking and change and be baptized, so we are still working on it. We know she can and will get there! She has an amazing testimony and she knows the gospel is true. Kayla's two friends were there, Brianna and Darrel. We hadn't met Darrel before either and he said he had met missionaries before at his grandma's house and kinda listened on the sideline. So we were able to talk about the plan of salvation and how God wants all of us back. Itwas so cool to see Darrel's desire to learn more from the beginning of the lesson to the end of the lesson. It completely changed and by the time we were walking out the door at the end, he was reading the Book of Mormon we gave him! The gospel is amazing and so true. I know it's true. It changes lives. It is so cool to be able to share it with others and watch them change. There is no greater joy, I'm telling ya! :)
Wednesday we did a church tour with our sweet investigator Teresa. She said her goal is to be baptized but she has to fix some things first. When she said she wanted to be baptized we were like WHAAT!? She hadn't told us she wanted to be baptized till that moment! We had a sweet lesson with a sweet new investigator we have named Miriam. She is so sweet! We love her and her husband. She has been through a lot and she has such strong faith in Christ. We hope she gets baptized!! :) and her whole fam too! We had dinner with the Torgersens! LOVE THEM. They are such a blessing in our lives. Seriously, ya ever needanything, the Torgersens are there for you. Love them and am so grateful for them. At dinner Sister Torgersen was showing off the hat she found, and she put it on and said: "Yo mama!" Hahahah It was hilarious I was dying!
Thursday was AWESOME! We had so many solid lessons! We had one with Kayla and she committed to stop smoking. Then we were rushing out of her lesson to get to Jacky's to do service for her when we came out to the parking lot to find that our car had been towed! HA HA HAAAAA oh man. So we were rescued by some sisters an hour or so later. We had a solid lesson with Diane about baptism!! And she is so pumped for her baptism she is just the best ever, I love her. Today she was like, "you look like a doll, but I didn't want to tell you earlier because I don't know if you would like that" hahahah it was hilarious. I love her. Then we had an AMAZINGG meeting with a lady named Chante. Chante is a friend of the Brewer family in the ward. She is doing a project on the LDS faith and so she has researched a ton on our faith and missionary work. Sooo basically we are going to teach her! She's awesome! :) BLESSINGSSS!
Friday: ITS FRIDAY FRIDAY, LANGFORD'S ONE YEAR MARK ON FRIDAYYY! WOO!We planned all day. Ate a ton of brownies. And watermelon. And planned some more. Haha it was great! And then we saw our sweet Athina. I love her so much she is the most genuine and loving person. She stuffs us with potato chips and cheese curls. AND She is so passionate about the gospel, she loves it so much. And she loves everyone she meets andsees! She tells Sister Lang and I that we are her daughters. She only gets to see her daughter twice a year, just like I see you Ma twice a year! And so we told Athina she's basically our mom out here. She was just fine with that ;) We saw Agartha as well and talked to the family about the importance of reading the scriptures. God has blessed us with them for a reason! He has commanded us to read them. So don't miss a day without reading :) We are seriously so blessed to have them.
Saturday was a blast! We first went and helped clean the church, it reminded me of when we would do that back at home and how dad would always be like, "Ok kids, were gonna go clean, bust it out, get it done!" Haha and when me and dad went to clean the temple that one time, that was so fun! Love those memories. :) I love you dad. Then we and some elders from our district went and helped the Robisons clean their house. Their grandpa that was living with them just passed, so we went and helped them out. It was so fun! They live out in a small town area, kind of in the boonies. Their house is like a little country house like ya see in movies. I just love it out here! I honestly don't think I would mind living here! It's just so beautiful I love it. Then afterwards we went and saw Kayla. She is still struggling but all is well! We know that she will get baptized some day. Hopefully July 9th. We know Heavenly Father is there for her and will help her. We got some slurpees then headed to check on some potential investigators. We had lunch and then had a lesson with Diane. She is just doing so awesome! We love her to death. I feel like we are like the same person almost haha she is so excited to be baptized! It was so funny, I had said she was so happy, much more happier than she usually is and she was like, "yeah it's embarrassing how happy I am!" It's the gospel! It makes us so, truly happy. :) we were able to go to a baptism with her that night too, our zone leaders asked Sis. Lang and I to sing at it. HA HA hopefully it sounded better than I thought it did. If not, it was terrible! We sang "I Know My Redeemer Lives." And I was so nervous. I don't do well singing in front of people! I was feeling pretty good right before we went up, feeling confident, getting my voice ready to sing, and then I get up there and open my mouth and oh my lands! I had like cotton mouth all of a sudden hahah and I struggled hard core hahah it was so bad but all is well!! The song itself is so beautiful. So it doesn't matter if it sounded terrible, because the message of it is priceless :) But Diane had a good time and she got even more excited for next Saturday!! :) We then stopped by to see Amber, brought her flowers, a card, and brownies. She is really sick lately, we feel so bad. She is a trooper though that's for sure! Seriously, she is just awesome. One of the biggest role models. Love her! The gospel is just amazing, and it's amazing to see people's lives change because of it. Watching the baptism we went to made me tear up because I know how important it is to be baptized. Baptized by the proper priesthood authority in the correct way. I know how proud Heavenly Father is when we obey his command. He loves us and wants us back. Being baptized is the first step in returning to Heavenly Father!! The gospel is so simple. Simply beautiful!
Sunday we had dinner with the Munson family and we celebrated their son's birthday. We had crab and ribs! It was my first time breaking open a crab it was great!! It was so fun! That night we checked on a referral her name is Rhonda. She was super nice and very religious so we will see if we can teach her again, we don't know if she was very receptive to the message of the restoration. But it was such a blessing to meet her!
Heavenly Father is teaching me so many things day by day, week after week. Like... how to drive in Virginia, how to talk to people, how to be timely and organized, how to take care of yourself hahah and other people! What to do when your car gets towed, how the spirit talks to me and following those promptings... So many things. It is AWESOME. But most importantly I learn time and time again that we ARE children of God. We are so loved by the most glorious being. We need not fear or worry because God is in control. I know He is watching over us.I've seen miracles after miracles happen in one day, and the longer I'm out here I realize that each day we are given is truly precious. We only have so much time here on earth, we need to remember to be doing the things the Lord has asked us to do. Every day I'm out here I learn to give more, work harder, love more freely and just enjoy each day. Each day of our lives is a gift from God, each day truly is a miracle. So live it to the fullest! :) Have a blessed week! :)
Sending all my love,
Sister Hymas :)

Don't Worry, Just Be Happy :)
Monday we had our super awesome zone activity at the Huntsmans!! Played volleyball all day. It was a blast and a half. I love the Huntsmans! They are such great people. And funny story, I was in their house looking at pictures when bam all of sudden I see like 5 different pictures of President fishing with Thomas S Monson!! HA No big deal at all! They are like buddies apparently!? Later that day we met an awesome guy named Wilbur and gave him a Book of Mormon. We haven't been able to meet with him since. Usually we meet a lot of people who seem interested and then we go back for a second lesson, they usually don't answer the door or aren't home... so we have a lot of first lessons! And few lead to second lessons. But all is well! Everyone needs the gospel and it's their choice whether they want to accept it or not.
Tuesday was awesome! We found out about transfers..... And drum roll please... I'm staying with my momma Lang!! Love her!! I'm the first companion of hers that she will have longer than 6 weeks. Isn't that crazy!? I'm super excited to be with her another transfer and work hard. So we had the opportunity to have Caliegh Hales from the ward come on a 24 hr exchange with us! (P.S. The Hales are a family that like to feed the missionaries, their daughter went to Utah State) We had some solid lessons with investigators we've been trying to meet with for a long time and we met some awesome new investigators. We had a lesson with Diane about the word of wisdom and she is just on board to live it! She drinks wine and she said she's so willing to give it up. Man it's so cool to see people willing to change their lives because of Christ!! Athina, we had a Iesson with her about the Restoration. We watched a video about Joseph Smith and the Restoration. She also expressed how she wants to be a nurse and I told her I did too and how Rachael is in nursing school. She was so impressed and wanted to see a pic of Rach so I showed her. She was like tell her I say hi! And she's beautiful!! And you both look the same! Hahah love her!! It was a super awesome and solid day. I am so happy, I love it here. Fort Belvoir is the bomb.com!
Wednesday I was like so HAPPY! I was the happiest person. It was so great!! We had an AMAZINGGG first lesson with a new investigator, Fatima. She is GOLDEN! She accepted the invite to be baptized, read and pray about the Book of Mormon and come to church on Sunday. WHAAA?! She is so awesome we are so excited to continue to meet with her! We just love her so much! We went to IHOP and got lunch with our STLS. We saw Amber! She is sick, but still as happy as can be. It was a beautiful day too! Man it was just such a fantastic day. It was probably the happiest I've been since being on my mission. Not that I'm not happy each day, but I was just really happy today! Haha and Sister Lang and I had a good time. We were in the car about to pray to go into a lesson and all of a sudden she dumps her water bottle on me! In the car. BEFORE A LESSON! HAHA I was like... WHAT ARE YOU DOIN?! You cray girl! Haha It was super fun actually haha. I just loved the whole day! I prayed to have a good day and to be happy, work hard, improve, and do my best, and that's EXACTLY what Heavenly Father helped me with. I am so incredibly happy. I love being out here. I love being the Lord's missionary.
Thursday was awesome! Transfers day... I'm still with my mama lang chicken wang! (Her Rapper name: Lil Lang Wang. Fun fact for ya!) HAHA. We had zone meeting then had an awesome lesson with Diane about the law of chastity.
She has been through some heartbreaking things and yet she is so strong. Her faith is unbelievably strong and she is so happy. She is an amazing example to me. I have learned so much from her. Today in the lesson she told me that I am so sweet and soft spoken. She said that throughout the day she will remember things that I said in my "soft spoken voice." Haha Isn't that so sweet!? She is like my fave I just love her. Sis Lang chicken wang is the best. She is so hardworking and kind. She's patient and loving. She is hilarious! And I couldn't do this mission without her! I am so grateful to be serving in this area another transfer with my mama Lang. I am so blessed to be here!!
Friday- planned all day. I was so tired! Seriously some days my brain is just fried it shuts off. That's what I feel like sometimes. There's just SO MUCH to this work it's great! I'm learning a lot but sometimes it can be a little difficult. Nevertheless, all is well! All is well :) Missions aren't meant to be easy right? Or missionaries would never learn anything! I know the Lord is teaching me a lesson right now, so I just got to embrace it.
Saturday- we went to lunch with our good ol' friend Brother Vance from the Ward! He's an old fella, and he likes to take us to lunch sometimes. He is so funny and sweet. We forgot to get a picture with him! He took us to Applebees for lunch! I haven't been to that place in AGES! I remember going there all the time when I was little, and I would always get the mac and cheese haha remember that ma? :) Anyway funny story, when we were all through with lunch, we had said goodbye to Brother Vance and gone to the bathroom. We walked out to our car to find a pack of coke zeros sitting on our car, haha from Billy! Haha He just gives us stuff he's so nice. And funny HAH! We got to go to the temple visitors center with Diane, Vincent, and the Liechtys! It was so awesome. We are so excited for Diane! She has been through so much in her life and to see her faith in Christ grow is amazing. She is changing a lot of things in her life. She is an incredible example. I am so grateful to be serving a mission and to meet such amazing people who have taught me so much. I know I've only been out 2 months, but I'm forever changed because of my mission and the things I've learned out here.
Sunday- what a GLORIOUS day!!! It rained like crazy, it was fast Sunday so we got to hear amazing testimonies, and 2 of our on date investigators came to church! Diane and Kayla!! Which Diane's baptismal date got pushed back to the 18th, which is all good! We saw and met some amazing new investigators, and preached and teached and testified! It was just an awesome day. It was wonderful :) EMBARRASSING MOMENT of the day: we were walking up the stairs to see a PI. Just casually walking at a medium speed when WABAM I biff it, scrape my ankle, shin and knee and fall on my face UP THE STAIRS. haha And it was LOUD oh my lands! I've never seen Sis Lang laugh so hard. We both were cracking up. I sure am your daughter Ma! ;)
I just love being out here! I love all of it. All the ups and all the downs. All the easy and hard times! Every aspect of missionary work is just awesome. You truly are so happy when serving the Lord. Happiest I've been in my whole life. Even when ya get rejected!! It's all good! Because...! There is nothing more joyful than testifying of Jesus Christ and His love for us to someone who is really struggling in their life. The gospel is true and this is the Lord's true church here on earth. This is His work and I am just so grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of it.
I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH. I'm so sorry I never have enough time to write back to all of you!!
But know how much I love and read every single email and letter. I am so grateful to know such amazing people. I love you all! Have a stellar week!! :)
